Product details

The text deals primarily with the law relating to intellectual property protection in East Africa. With respect to copyright it considers the developments from the pre-colonial period to the current period and takes into account international developments which influenced the current law, the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act, 2006. Relevant international legal instruments are also analysed. The text also examines design law from an historical and current position enshrined in the Industrial Property Act, 2014 (IPA).

The Second Edition of this text has been necessitated by the inclusion of Chapters on geographical indications, trade secrets, the evolving interest in plant variety protection and comprehensive coverage of the registration procedures of the main intellectual property, including copyright, industrial designs, geographical indications, patents, trademarks, technovations and utility models, the latter two being varions of patents.
